Swahili Coast Villas is located on the East Coast of the island, approximately 45 minutes from the airport. Private airport shuttle services are available. Contact us at least 48 hours in advance to book. International tourists generally need a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date, a visa, proof of onward/return travel, and sufficient funds for your stay. On-arrival visas may be available – check with Tanzania Immigration for eligible countries.
Language
Swahili is the most widely spoken language, while English, Italian, French and German are commonly spoken around tourist areas. Our team will gladly help you with a few Swahili words and phrases.

Best Time To Come
The best time to visit Zanzibar generally falls within the dry seasons: July to October and January to February. These periods offer the most pleasant weather with sunshine, minimal rainfall, and clear skies, ideal for beach activities, watersports, and exploring the island. The low tourist season is from March to May with the long rainy season when tropical downpours can last several hours.

Money Details
It’s advisable to bring enough cash for your trip and emergencies. Never leave cash out in the open or travel with large amounts. We offer in-room safes for your convenience. When purchasing gifts and souvenirs or visiting the market, never pay the initial price. Prices are typically inflated 2-3x for tourists and negotiating over the price is common. Tipping is at your own discretion. It is common to tip service providers such as boat captains, tour guides, and staff. However, tipping at restaurants is generally not expected.
Currency
The Tanzanian Shilling (TZS) is the official currency in Zanzibar. While US Dollars and Euros are accepted at most tourist establishments, it's advisable to carry Tanzanian Shillings for daily expenses. There are two foreign exchange bureaus nearby the property to change money.
Banking
ATMs are available close by the property and in major towns, but availability may be limited in more remote areas. We advise you to contact your bank prior to your departure that you are traveling to avoid any fraud or suspicious activity alerts. We accept most major credit cards.

Outlet Plugs & International Adaptor
Zanzibar uses Type G (British) and Type D (three-pin round) electrical outlets. American and Indian plug types are not compatible. You'll likely need a universal travel adapter to charge your electronic devices.
